The biggest feature of the Easy Walk harness is that the leash is connected to the front of the dog. When a dog with a tendency to pull tries to move forward, when the owner pulls on the lead, the force is applied to the rear, reducing the risk of the owner being dragged. Even if the dog tries to move forward, the owner manipulates the leash, causing the dog to turn to the side or back.
Even dogs that don’t usually have a tendency to pull may suddenly try to jump out when something interests them. When I pass by another dog, it gets so excited that I can’t help it. There was also a time when a family member was pulled by a dog and fell and was injured. As expected, this was a problem, so I took him to a training class, and the instructor recommended this Easy Walk harness.
Just Wearing an Easy Walk Harness Will Not Make Your Dog Quiet
Easy Walk Harness makes walking much easier. But when I put the harness back on, it starts pulling again. Therefore, it is important to train your dog properly so that he does not pull while using a harness. If your dog starts walking or jumps up and down excitedly, pull back on the leash to draw his attention to you. Pulling on the leash causes the dog to turn and usually look into the owner’s eyes. At that time, praise your dog or pull him close to keep him quiet until the excitement subsides. By repeating this many times, my dog no longer pulls.
Depending on the Breed of Dog, The Harness May Come Off
Dog breeds with short legs require special attention. Even if this is not the case, it may come off depending on the dog’s posture. If you are worried about your dog slipping out, it is safe to use a half choke collar and harness connected with a eggplant.
Easy Walk Harness Is Made of Nylon
If your dog has a habit of chewing on the harness, there is a risk of it breaking. Since the leash is placed in front of the dog, the dog may chew on the leash.
It may damage the dog’s skin
Depending on the dog, the harness may dig into the dog and cause scratches. The buckle part was just on the dog’s side, so I thought it wouldn’t hurt, so I looked at it, but the dog didn’t really care, and it didn’t hurt at all, so I left it as it was. However, since there is less hair on the armpits, it is a good idea to dress dogs with sensitive skin and feed them.
Harnesses Often Come Loose
This was also my instructor’s advice, but it’s important to check that the harness isn’t loose every time you put it on. If it is loose, it will fall out when the dog applies force to the back. Make sure it fits snugly enough to fit one to two fingers, especially for small dogs.
How to Choose Size
The Easy Walk Harness requires to be sessile snugly to the body. Therefore, it is better to take the size carefully. The size range of harness is quite detailed. In addition to the usual S, M, and L, it also has sizes in between. Therefore, some populate may be confused when choosing the size.
The size is obstinate by the dog’s girth.
Then, pick out the single that matches the actual size and the harness size up chart. However, the measured size may apply to both sizes. In that case, it’s scoop to choose a size that’s close to the midriff of those sizes.
Our dog weighs about 17 kg, simply she is quite slender because she is a girl. The size up of the torso is approximately 60cm. According to the size chart, it fits some S/M and M sizes. The Easy Walk Harness I’m currently using is size M, but I feel it might have been better to use size S/M.
This is the position of the shoulder strap adjuster when wearing the harness. The further the adjustor goes to the left, the shorter the harness will be. I sense this is the perfect size.
And this is the position of the chest strap adjuster. There are deuce adjusters on the chest strap, and these are on the right side. The further the adjuster goes to the right, the shorter the strap wish be. This is pretty close. If it had been a little slimmer, I would have had to tailor the straps to work it smaller. Even if the dog has a good girth, the fit of the harness will motley depending on the dog’s physique.
How to Wear the Easy Walk Harness Correctly
The EasyWalk harness consists of three straps.
- From the top, there are shoulder straps, chest straps, and belly straps. Undo the buckle of the belly strap (black strap) that comes to the stomach area.
- Then, wrap the belly strap around your dog’s neck with the short end on the right side. Adjust the length of the shoulder strap (the strap on your dog’s back) so that the connector ring is in this position on your dog. Next, adjust the length of the belly strap. The gap is roughly large enough to fit one to two fingers.
- Next, adjust the length of the chest strap so that it is in this position. Adjust with the two adjusters on this chest strap.
- Finally, connect the leash to the D-ring on the chest strap.
When using an Easy Walk harness, it may come loose. If it comes loose every time, you can sew the harness so it won’t move.
Depending on the dog’s breed, gender, and bone structure, there are some that are suitable and unsuitable for each dog, so if you are unsure, it may be a good idea to consult your dog’s store. I hope you can enjoy a relaxing walk with your dog using the Easy Walk Harness by paying attention to the above points.
